We provide supervisors for public chat. These are volunteers who are on as their schedule permits. We cannot guarantee that a supervisor will be on-duty to watch your child's behavior. We also cannot log or keep track of anything your child says or sees in a private conversation.

 

The staff are unable to monitor each and every line. There is not always a monitor on duty. We cannot guarantee that every conversation will sound just like a youth group outing at the pastor's house. We do not monitor the content of private messages between individual chatters. We do not recommend unsupervised usage of this service for any minor, and if you are not comfortable with your child having access to this service, it is up to you, the parent, to prevent your child's access. We have no failproof way to prevent your child from using this service or any other service we host.

 

It is your responsibility as a parent to monitor and police your child's activities on this or any other site. The-Escape.org and its volunteer supervisors cannot and will not be responsible for your child.

Please read the following short list of rules before joining our chat server.

• Dont use ALL uppercase letters (caps). In chatrooms, this is considered shouting.
• Don't type gibberish or repeat yourself.
• We're not your dating service. You will not be allowed to keep a flirty nickname.
• You may not use titles such as reverend, prophet, etc in your nicknames. This is to keep creeps from pretending to be pastors, etc.
• Please speak ENGLISH only in #the_junction. We cannot moderate a language we do not understand. Ask a moderator if there is a room for your language.

Due to the amount of inappropriate chat from users from large ISPs such as AOL, the chat room requires that all nicknames be registered before joining a room. This allows us to more effectively ban troublemakers.

 

IMPORTANT! - If you register using a free email acount - especially hotmail - don't be suprised if you never get our email. Hotmail & Yahoo tend to put our messages in a junk mail folder or simply trash them altogether. Our email system works, and if you do not get the email, use a different email address, such as one provided by your internet service provider.
